Project Summary, Objectives and Results
The Uzbek Government had launched a reform of the Vocational Education and Training system in order to make the system more responsive to labour market needs and, by this, contribute to a better socio-economic development in Uzbekistan.
Although overall unemployment figures are still high in Uzbekistan, there is an increasing demand for well qualified employees in the country, particularly in the area of the building sector.
The aim of the project was to strengthen the quality and capacity of initial and further education in the field of building sector professions.
The main partners involved were the vocational colleges in the different regions, and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Services were provided in the field of standard and curriculum development, capacity building, and further training of teachers/trainers and responsible personnel related to technical and vocational education and training in the ministries.
Selected trades/occupations: plasterer, tile layer, carpenter, installer, plumber.
