Project Summary, Objectives and Results

Project Summary

Despite efforts and considerable spending since independence, the Kyrgyz education system has produced mixed results. The Kyrgyz Republic was ranked last in math, science and reading among countries that participated in the 2006 and 2009 rounds of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). The Government of Kyrgyzstan introduced the Education Development Strategy 2020 in 2012 to address the overall management and to rationalise the financing of the education sector. In response to this the EU started supporting the education sector in Kyrgyzstan in a comprehensive manner.

The objective of the project is to support the development of partnerships between local authorities, social partner organisations, civil society organisations (CSOs) and education establishments as well as to assist in the design and delivery of quality education and training services.
