Project Summary, Objectives and Results

Project Summary

Economic development of Kazakhstan increased the demand for qualified expert staff, but country’s VET system is not sufficiently flexible to adapt to this growing demand. Most of the qualification offered by the VET system are neither relevant to the job market nor future-oriented. To meet the growing demands of Kazakhstan’s private and state-owned industry, a number of challenges must still be overcome. This include reforming the Vet system, gaining recognition for its qualification, assuring quality in the system and establishing national and sector-based qualification frameworks.

The objective of the project is to contribute to Kazakhstan’s rapidly expanding economy and steadily increasing demands towards its labor market by providing assistance in helping develop the country’s VET system.

  • Providing of support for the National VET Council and selected regional councils in implementing the state programmes.
  • Developing of sector-based qualification framework for the oil and gas sectors, as well as mechanical engineering and agriculture.

  • Guidelines for cooperative VEET school management developed.
  • A concept for conducting internship programmes for managers, teachers and training staff developed and implemented.
