Project Summary, Objectives and Results

Project Summary

About two-thirds of the labor force in Tajikistan is currently low skilled, which limits their opportunities for better employment and higher earnings, and ultimately reduces national productivity and competitiveness and increases the costs of doing business. The project is expected to modernize and improve the methodology, infrastructure, and teaching quality of the TVET system. It will also establish a Skills Training Fund to increase access of training to disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, including women.

The objective of the project is to improve the efficiency and quality of technical and vocational education and training in Tajikistan, leading to increased skilled workers with better paid jobs.

Project Objectives
  • To empower the country’s unemployed and underemployed youths and adults (including women) to take advantage of employment and income opportunities in the domestic and international labor markets.
  • To institutionalize mechanisms for engaging the private sector in TVET at the policy and operational levels.
