Project Summary, Objectives and Results

Project Summary

A single grant assistance to VET system in south region was provided within the framework of the project on migration “Increasing of the importance of Central Asian migration: awareness, strengthening of potential and organization of the network for increasing of the impact of migration on growth and development”. In June 2010 the southern region of the republic has faced a serious ethnical conflict between Kyrgyz and Uzbek population that caused the death of more then 400 people. Most of infrastructure was destroyed in Osh city, and partially in Jalal-Abad and Batken cities. Educational organizations, VET schools and different institutions were also destroyed – either completely or partially. All the republic, including international donors has been providing assistance. The single grant from ACTED was aimed at provision technical assistance to some VET schools, which were injured due to the ethnical conflict, in Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken oblast in order to purchase equipment, and partial reconstruction of the infrastructure.
