Beneficiary Around 2000 unemployed poor people from Sughd and Khatlon provinces, including women and young people; Teaching and Management staff of VET schools (minimum 85 people); 100 staff of local administrations, education institutions involved in vocational and skills training; 80 members of civil and business sectors.

Project Summary

The aim of the project is to alleviate poverty through employment and income generation in Soghd and Khatlon regions of Tajikistan.

Project Objectives

The main objective of the project is to increase the employment and self employment opportunities for poor unemployed, by increasing the quality of near-by VET schools through demand-driven skills and modern vocational education.

Project Results

Planned Outcomes:

1. Graduates of the project’s VET courses have increased their incomes through employment or self-employment; their and the living standard of their families has noticeably improved.
2.The capacity of 10 VET schools to design and manage demand driven skills and vocational courses is enhanced.
3. Professional guidance at 10 VET schools is enhanced.
4. Social partnership mechanisms are established and are functioning in the target rayons.
5. The image of VET pilot schools and VET in general has improved.
