Project Summary, Objectives and Results

Project Summary

State policy in education aims first at the improvement of education quality and the step-by-step entrance of Tajikistan into the world education community. Good evidence of this is the (2009) RT Government Resolution “On transition of all higher educational institutions in the country to credit education system by 2014.” Along with the universities that have succeeded in this regard, some higher educational institutions in the country could not prepare a platform for transition to the credit system of education and did not revise their development strategies in compliance with the new conditions due to limited financial resources and lack of human capacity.

Consequently, the program initiated implementation of the project at four universities of the country. The project provides a series of trainings for management and personnel of university departments as well as for faculty of the four above-mentioned universities so that they can begin to implement a credit system of education and prepare development strategies for these universities through 2015.

Project Objectives

To train personnel and faculty of Qurghonteppa, Kulob and Khorugh: Universities and the Tajik State Language Institute in principles of the credit system of education and to prepare a development strategy for these universities, taking into consideration that they have just started with this system.

  • Define the composition of the audience depending on the training programs;
  • Organize and conduct thematic trainings depending on the composition of the audience at the four pilot universities;
  • Provide consulting services for: University management involved in the preparation of development strategies and the economic justification of the strategies developed.
